Can't keep this a secret-Cooking at the Cottage opens 11/1

by Linda B » Thu Sep 30, 2010 8:10 pm

Dear Fellow Foruminites:

We couldn't keep this a secret anymore! Mark (Mark B) and I (Linda B) are opening our own cookware store and cooking school on November 1st at The Vogue Center between the Homemade Pie Kitchen and Anabell's Oriental Rugs. The address will be 3739 Lexington Rd., Louisville, KY 40207. Phone (not hooked up yet will be (502) 893-6700.

Robin, I hope this was alright for me to post this. :?

A little background: .

I served as the Cooking Class Coordinator at Campbell's Gourmet Cottage since 2004. I worked some in the retail store and attended most of the classes that were held over the years. I never had any ownership interest, however.

I grew up in a restaurant family who operated in downtown Louisville from 1892 until 2007(Kunz's). This is where I learned to put my customer first and treat them as I would like to be treated. I still
operate under this old fashioned style of customer service today!

Campbell's permanently closed its doors on September 1st which saddened many of us but, under the circumstances, couldn't have been helped.

My husband, Mark, and I believed in the store and the classes so much that we purchased the assets of Campbell's (but not the business itself) and will be opening our own retail store and cooking class program on November 1st in the Vogue Shopping Center, 3739 Lexington Rd., Louisville, KY 40207. We will keep the same phone number as Campbell's, 502-893-6700, and will be launching a new website very soon.

The store will be called Cooking at the Cottage and we couldn't be more thrilled! We will continue to carry the hard to find gadgets and items, coffee, tea, chocolate, baking supplies & equipment, Viking,
Wusthof, Swiss Diamond, Le Crueset, Emile Henry to name a few as well as carrying some beautiful new lines and bring back the wonderful linens that the original store carried.

We will have gift and bridal registries. Our classroom will be available for corporate events, birthday parties, team building in addition to our wonderful schedule of cooking classes and date nights.

But, when it is all said and done, our focus will be on you, our customer, in trying to give you the best shopping experience you will find in Louisville. We are anxious for your input about products or
lines you would like to see us carry as well as subjects for future cooking classes and chefs you would like us to try to incorporate into our schedule!

We can't wait to open our doors on November 1st and say hello to each
of you in person! Please be sure to introduce yourself to me and let me know you are a fellow foruminite. After all, we are all family! .

Thank you!

This is great news, as we have discussed dear Linda. I couldn't be more thrilled for you two. Now, just don't forget, we're here if you need us to lift, pull, fetch, or vent.

The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Can't wait. Sign me up to be one of your first customers. And, by the way, congratulations, girl!

Wow. Moving all the inventory, working your other jobs and planning a wedding and opening the store?
I'm impressed! Wishing you all the best of luck on your new venture. I might have to teach some classes again!

Sounds exciting :!: It's certainly something the Louisville market needs. Because of the location I'm assuming it will be more like the original Campbells instead of the reincarnation after the fire. The original list so much more quaint, cozy and stocked with interesting items.
