Curmudgeon's Lunch

by Steve P » Thu Sep 16, 2010 4:28 pm

OK...So I've got this (I think) brilliant idea...how about some of us Curmudgeon's get together and do lunch. Kinda like the ladies getting together and having tea...only it'll be guys and beer. (Yes Mr. Head, if you are reading this you ARE now officially a Curmudgeon) :P Participants should be over 45 and must be (more or less) ornery and opinionated. Any takers ?

It's not so much about age...it's about attitude.

Does a Friday lunch sound good to any of you guys  I'm thinking we need a combined age of at least 250 to get this off the ground. I'm 53 (for another week or two)...So we only need another (lets see...three from zero is seven, carry the one...) 197 years. Come on, it'll be fun...We can bitch about the younger generation :P

I'm in and am right behind you Steve, 53 in two weeks. So we're up to 105?

I should be able to make it, but I don't like to describe myself too specifically in public lest it become even easier for restaurateurs to spot me ... can I just say "leading edge Baby Boomer" and older, but not THAT much older, than you guys, and push it up to 160 or so?

Wait..should those of us with small children come to the same restaurant and sit at surrounding tables and pinch our kids and/or tell them that Santa doesn't exist while you eat?

Tomorrow is no good. Next Friday is great though. I'll be at the BBC in St. Matthews setting up for the Cask Ale Fest kick-off of Louisville Craft Beer Week. We could eat there or Brendan's, Molly Malone's or any number of places in a small radius. I noticed a Vietnamese place on Fairfax.

Who's in?

Please do. I'll bring lots of candy and will buy the first round of ice cream for the kids.

I'll add a not-too-far-in-the-past 50 to the total. But I'll be out of town next Friday, if that's an option. And, damn, I can be a grumpy curmudgeon...
