State fair food

Anyone trying the new burger between two donuts?

I look forward to the Dole Whip and Morgan's fudge. In my meat-eating days I'd also add a pork chop sammich to that.

What's your favorite?

We've decided the whole thing should be dipped in chocolate and then deep fried. In lard, of course. :D

I recently saw a variation of the Krispy-Kreme burger marketed at a restaurant on Hilton Head...they called it "The Luther" in honor of Luther Vandross, who supposedly was a fan of this culinary concoction (I hope it didn't contribute to his untimely passing a few years ago).

For me, when it comes to State Fair food, I remain a purist -- pork chop sandwich, and have the (spicy) BBQ sauce handy.

A lot of people don't know that the KY Pork Producers sell their Pork Chop Sandwich outside (and inside) every UofL football game.

They also had a stand in Freedom Hall where you could get them. I think I read somewhere they will also have one inside the Yum! Center.

That is one good sandwich.

And the uh Krispy Kreme burger thing... I uh... *shudder*

I'll be there trying out just about everything but I don't expect much because I've been disappointed w/ our fair food since I was old enough to walk. I'll give the KY Pork Producers another shot this year but the last time I had one it was absolutely awful (& this is coming from someone that adores pork).

1) Absolutely NOT. I've already had one heart attack, and I don't plan on having another. Some things are just tempting fate (not to mention the idea sounds totally gross to me).

2) When I was a kid, I only got foot long chili dogs at the state fair, so that was the MUST have. After I got older, I graduated to rainbow trout sandwiches and funnel cakes. Last year, I fell hard for beignets. Hopefully I can find them again this year! I think I still have powdered sugar in my cleavage.

Just give me a butt on a stick & I'm happy

Wonder if they'll have fried butter here (very big in Texas and Wisconsin)
