Football Bars/Restaurants - Where to watch your team

by Steve P » Thu Aug 05, 2010 2:14 pm

Football is right around the corner (HOF preseason game is Monday)...So I thought I'd start a topic on where to watch your favorite team. Feel free to add any college or pro football watering holes you are aware of.

Here is the short list of the ones I am aware of...obviously these places all have the Sunday Ticket, so they probably have other games available for viewing:

Cleveland Browns; New Directions - HWY 146 and Chamberlain Lane. Great little blue collar bar with REALLY good food.

Tampa Bay Bucs: Selena's - Hwy 146 - Great food, friendly bar

Tennessee Titans: Wings and Rings - HWY146 and Chamberlain Lane (Same plaza as New Directions). Crappy food and they run the TV's with an iron fist (God forbid you want to change what game is on which TV).

Squeelers...I mean Steelers: R Place 9603 Whipps Mill Road.

Buffalo Bills: Rooties, 12205 Westport Road. LOTS (!!!) of TV's and THE best wings in town Period.

Green Bay Packers: Dutch's, Shelbyville Rd. Cold beer and potato chips.

Minnesota Vikings: Gerstle's Place 3801 Frankfort Ave

Indianapolis Colts: Rumballs, 5901 Terry Road, Louisville

For you Windy City transplants, The Highlands Tap Room on Bardstown Rd is a Chicago Bears (and Cubs) bar.

The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Just leave it in there - if you have it removed, the pain of what Delhomme is going to do to your 'fanly backside' might hurt that much worse....

Disclaimer - I'm a Carolina Panthers fan, so I have felt that pain. You have my sympathy in advance.

When I lived in MN, Friday was always casual day at work. A lot of times I'd wear my Browns jersey and almost without fail I'd catch grief from a few of my purple attired co-workers. My standard reply was that "I'll still be wearing this Browns jersy when my team goes Oh and Sixteen whereas that purple stuff you are wearing goes back in the closet for the season as soon as the Vikes dip below .500".

Vikings fans...biggest bunch of fair weather fans I've ever seen.

Maybe you ought to start shooting for about 2030? That way you won't have your hopes dashed so soon!

I think it all started in 1988 or 89 ?, when Ernest Byner fumbled on the one yard line at Denver. Then of course "The Drive" was born by Elway.
I kept saying "maybe next year" then it went to "give us 5 years", apparently I will be on that for awhile..

Side note : I am also a Cubs fan.....the agony..... :(
