Thai Taste and Dirty Kroger

After all the hype, I coerced my hubby to try the place for lunch. I had been here once for the buffet, but it was several years ago. Simply Thai is very close to home and I didn't think anyone could top their tofu pad thai. Sorry, but Thai Taste just moved very comfortably into first place! My hubby is a pad thai lover , too and he LOVED it. I ordered a #2 out of 5 and it was great. I like that they have shredded carrots, onion and broccoli in it. Nice small bite size pieces that mingle well with the crunchy sprouts. The waiter filled up our iced tea every time the glasses were getting low.
I mentioned "dirty Kroger" re the discussion here and hubby from Harrodsburg wanted to see it. I was shocked...the place was sparkling and I didn't see any wife beater tees. It needs a new moniker, alas.
After lots of tries, here's my top pad thai choices in order:

1. Thai Taste
2. Simply Thai
3. Sala Thai
4. Pink Door

Not so hot: Thai Siam, Lemongrass Cafe (yuk)

Well, you all have convinced me to try Thai Taste again- I went a few times two years ago and thought "Eh" but I love Thai food and am always looking for a good meal.
If it really is as good as you all say I'm in trouble since it couldn't be much closer to home.

Alas, Another Louisville landmark that has more to do with geography than anything. If I'm giving directions in the Lower Brownsboro Rd. area EVERYONE knows where the "Dirty Kroger" is(even though it's not so dirty any more). However, as far as the new "Dirty Kroger", my nonination is for the REAL "Dirty Kroger" that is located in Old Louisville between 2nd and 3rd Streets off of Breckinridge St. That place needs a re-model in the worst possible way. Its a real shame that that is the closest "full service" grocery for that area and it is that run down.

A lot of the neighborhood just goes to the U of L Kroger now, though.

Dirty Kroger...........I missed it.

You have to include Mai's in any Thai roundup in greater Louisville.

Agree that it is good....but I avoid crossing the great divide lately, LOL!

I like Mai's very much and rank them among the city's top Thai, but Thai Taste's pad Thai is usually remarkably good. (I say usually because, like all small, family-run ethnic spots, it can be variable. But I like the P.T. enough there to order it often, and I'd say 4 times out of 5 it's the best.

I have yet to be impressed by Thai Smile V, but to be fair, I should get out there for dinner some evening. The lunch crowd appear to be more fast-food lovers than food geeks seeking authentic Thai, and I'm guessing that management may respond to that.

I thought Thai Siam's Pad Thai was great last time I had it. I also LOVE Sala Thai. All of their food has been fantastic!

Aw...shoot...you know who makes GREAT pad thai? Napa River Grill! Absolutely wonderful. As you can see, it's one of my favorites, lol. You do have to specify the heat index at Napa, though !

Robin, my love of Thai smile is also based on their curry striking a cord with my personal preferences. Other than their curries, I have only had their garlic shrimp, which was good but not astounding. I see Chef Todd there a lot though. Unless I have Chef Todd confused with someone else? I am sure he could elaborate.

It's funny how the Kroger's are named. To my understanding there is already a Kro-ghetto in Old Louisville. Trust me, it has the Dirty Kroger beat when it comes to being Ghetto.
