18 yrs. ago this week I was preparing to pour the concrete floor for Louisville's first brewery since Falls City closed in 1978. The Silo Brew Pub opened in mid-October 1992 and I was brewing Louisville's First Craft Beer. ** Someday I'm going to sit down with a calculator and figure out how many tens of thousands of gallons of beer I've brewed and then throw a party.

What were you doing 18 years ago?

**(I did brew a batch or two at the defunct Charlie's (sixth & Main) which was Louisville's first brewery license since 1978. Charlie's never bought any equipment so my homebrew rig in their kitchen doesn't count.)

I was probably catching lightning bugs, begging my mom for 10 more minutes before I had to come in, and, well, preparing to "support" Bush in the upcoming election. How things change! Granted, I was 10...

As for the party, I'd party first and do the math later. The party will either make the math more interesting or make you forget about it all together. Either option is a win, from my perspective.
Thinks the frosty mug is the low point in American history.

Studying my ass off and working 30 hours a day in residency. I don't miss those days. I do miss my hair.

Awesome

I was working at the Old Seelback bar getting ready to move to NYC. I was catching my breath in Louisville, having just fled the filth of LA, its citizens' heads, buried in the sand after the Riots.

18 years ago today, I was in graduate school and working as a teaching assistant for a gifted & talented program for high school kids at Western Kentucky University.

I remember that summer mainly because our group of kids included the daughters of Tom Wills and Mitch McConnell. Tom came with his daughter. Mitch didn't. 8) One of the other girls was the daughter of a nationwide "Teacher of the Year" award winner.

Let's just say I earned brownie points because I knew who these people were and schmoozed well with them during the reception prior to the beginning of classes. LOL
