Del Taco

by James Natsis » Sat Apr 18, 2026 9:19 am

There's a Del Taco coming on Bardstown Rd in Fern Creek near Beulah Church Rd. They supposedly do some in-store prep and are a cut above Taco Bell. Anyone familiar with them?

Definitely a cut above Taco Bell, but still a national chain with more than 500 shops. Speaking personally, I’d far rather hit a taqueria. But if I drove by the one in Fern Creek at mealtime, I wouldn’t be too high and mighty to give it a try. :)

No doubt about a taqueria--and we got mucho options. But sometimes I feel like grabbing a quick and cheap taco at a place like Taco Bell. I also have a 15 yr old w/ fast food taste buds. But is it me, or has their quality gone down hill these days? The meat in the tacos doesn't even taste like meat.

Anyway, I hope Del Taco meets my quick, occasional light meal needs not too far from the crib.

Fern Creek is certainly attracting a lot of chains. Shah’s Halal Food should open soon at Bardstown Road and Hurstbourne, and Swig (the “dirty soda” chain) intends to open a location next to the planned Del Taco.

I saw the sign for Shah's yesterday in the plaza with Crunch Fitness. Its interesting to see a national halal chain. I'm Greek American so their stuff on-line looks interesting to me. I hope its descent quality. As for halal, as far as I know, and I may be wrong, there isn't a different in taste.
