Little India planned on Blankenbaker in J-town

by Rich S » Thu Apr 24, 2025 11:56 am

There’s a sign up now for Little India restaurant at 1915 Blankenbaker Parkway, near El Caporal and Penn Station subs. I can’t find a website and don’t know when it will open. As far as I can tell it’s not part of a chain; I don’t know if there’s any connection to the Little India Cafe that operated in Hikes Point years ago.

Little India will be in the spot where Bawarchi Indian Cuisine was going to be (see earlier post here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=26712 ); apparently that plan fell through.

I would definitely drive out there and fight the traffic to try another Indian place, though ...

Little India's soft opening is Friday, June 20. I haven't seen a menu online, but based on the photos I assume it will be similar to places like Bombay Grill and Clay Oven.

Thanks for the link, Rich! As I said, I'm always willing to head out for Indian food! I do wonder if it's the same sweet family that ran the old Little India in Hikes Point. I remember Mom and Pop and a very polite young gent who must have been all of 11 or 12. Of course, the name's not copyrightable ...

I don't think there's a connection. I believe the owner of the old Little India was named Muhammad; the new place is owned by D. Gopi Krishna and M. Naga Sunisha Devi, according to the liquor license application.
