Le Moo

I'm not a big meat eater. But we had dinner last night at Le Moo with friends (the husband is a steak fan) and a couple of observations. First, the place was packed. There was a small group of what appeared to be prom goers, but that was not the majority of the crowd. It was nice to see a very busy post-Covid restaurant. It goes without much description to say the meals were crazy large. It was the first time in decades I've taken boxed left-overs home. Food quality was excellent. I had a pork chop I had asked to be cooked to about 135 (knowing it would add 5 or more degrees waiting to be delivered) and it was ideal. My wife had scallops which she loved (she was the only one at the table who finished their meal, and she's hardly a big eater). Our guests had a cassoulet and steak diane, both of which were spot on. It was far from a bargain: with tip, over $400 (including a good bottle of sangiovese). Still, overall, a good experience at a place I have frankly avoided for years (red meat, you know).

Thanks for the report, TP. I'm pleased but not surprised to hear you had a good experience. One thing about Kevin Grainger and his varied collection of eateries, they might seem a little over the top but the food is invariably first-rate and the service usually is, too.

I just wish I could afford to eat there ...
